This Week's Episode........ "Whips, Spikes, the Devil, and a whole lotta Concrete" November - 1998 |
Slash: "Is that your whip?"
Peter Gross: "It is?"
When you take 50 yards of dead animal hide, wrap it around a steel cable and accelerate it past the speed of sound, drill 1200 holes and fill them with 10 inch spikes, then sandwich yourself between them and a concrete block which is then assaulted by a 15-pound sledge hammer, all while flying valuejet and simultaneously attempting to apply eye makeup and memorize lines at the same time, you get our last two months. (You also get one hell of a run-on sentence!) We've been busy. The new "Cruel and Unusual Show" was well received at the Georgia Renaissance Festival (Fall). We have enjoyed breaking in the new stuff and it was nice to work all the way into mid-November for a change. Anecdotes you ask? Why, yes there are. The cow suit was a regular feature in the Zukes show. The Commidiots took the liberty of dressing up like Zorro and making an unannounced appearance during our show. Slash, in an amazing exhibition of marksmanship, squirted Peter Gross in the crotch with a super soaker from 40 feet away and two stories up (the intrepid magician was forced to finish his schlock juggling and magic show with a big wet spot. tee hee). Finally, chalking up what is actually only the third accident in nearly one thousand shows, Hack, accidentally stepping on his bullwhip, broke his own nose with the handle of the whip (A move I have some experience with, though not nearly the success Hack achieved in the fracture department. -Slash) Does anyone have a video of our new show from Georgia? We'll pay you for it!!!
What's our season 1999 looking like? It's like this: Jan-Feb: Ft Lauderdale, March: Largo, April-May: Georgia, Summer: Great Lakes. The fall is as of yet indetermined.
Ahoy! We're going on a cruise in March with The Rogues of Scotland and The Tartan Terrors. The cruise leaves from New Orleans in mid-march. We'll be sword fighting our way around the Carribean. More information on this scottish comedy-cruise as it becomes available. Think about booking this seven day adventure for yourself!
Action! Was that your bestest juggler buddy Broon seen in Georgetown (DC) with all those lights and camera pointed at him? You were not hallucinating. Throughout the months of October and November, Sarajeromsalot (sp?) productions was shooting on location in Georgetown at the Rhino Bar and on the waterfront. The independent feature film is called "Divine Intervention." This supernatural romantic-comedy stars, among others, Brian "Broon" Howard as "Harry" the frustrated convienience store owner and Spence "Slash" Humm as the Devil's administative assistant. (Sleep now.) Shooting will resume in early 1999 in CA and the release date is as of yet, only in theory, late 1999 or later. Watch this page for updates on this and other film and TV projects that are in the works. In fact there are so many projects going that we may have to open a new section of the web page. Count'em: two movies (one featuring Hack as well), one TV series, a comic book and one animated series! Got your curiosity up? Well that's all I'm sayin' fer now watch the page for updates on industry stuff. Read about many of these productions as the info becomes available at redamedia.com!
....oh yeah, Slash has a cameo appearance in the upcoming Saturday Night Live Movie "Superstar". More to come on that later.
Word unto my peeps. -Slash
