Other possible topics; wire-work, fire stunts, high falls, and an optional skydiving day! Sound like fun? Email us at herocamp@hackandslash.com and we’ll send you info as the camp planning is complete! It looks like it will be a weekend event for this first year, sometime in the summer. Stay tuned!
Here’s some fun news of the weird... Slash got a call from his buddy Jack to help out with a show that Jack created. Once upon a time, Jack made a movie called, "Yes and...", all about the quirky people of the comedy improvisation world. In that movie, he featured a short cameo by a fictitious comedy-improv group called the "Boneless Chicken Cabaret". They were guys in chicken suits doing improv. Pretty silly, huh? Well, it was silly and as they were shooting the scene with actors in the chicken suits during some down time at a real comedy convention, a small crowd formed of folks who thought the clucking guys on stage were very funny. They weren’t even doing a real show! So Jack thought, "Hmmmm..." A few months later he launched the first real Boneless Chicken Cabaret show and it was a hit. He entered the chickens in the DC Comedy Festival and that brings us back to Slash’s phone call. Jack needed someone to play the third chicken in the DC Comedy festival Improv and Sketch Comedy competition and Slash accepted.
The day of the DC Comedy Festival arrived and after a little rehearsal (very little... hee hee) Slash took to the stage clucking and flapping with the veteran chickens. To make a long story short (too late) they won!! Now the show is opening for stand-up comedian Emo Phillips at Lisner Auditorium in DC on April 6th!
In the interest of letting Hack and Slash’s most loyal fans in on this sick and twisted fun, John 'Hack' Davis will be hosting a night of comedy at The Comedy Spot in Arlington, VA on December 17th, at 7:30pm. The show will be a double-bill with the chickens and Slash’s alter-ego, Barry Croaker, the gravedigger who writes children’s books. The show should be a blast so we hope you’ll join us there! Tickets are available at The Comedy Spot.
As if there weren’t enough going on... We thought since we’re bringing our old buddy Broon all the way from the west coast to do the Christmas show, why not look up a few more of the funniest guys Slash has ever worked with and put together a reunion show of Emitts Boys, a comedy improv group. Years ago, Slash, Brian 'Broon' Howard of the Broon Show and Bob Garman, Jim Neib and Jack Reda from the Bloody Drama show and a few more guys performed as Emitt’s Boys, DC’s Toughest Comedy Group! The show is January 4th at 9pm, at the The Comedy Spot in Arlington, VA (buy yer tickets on their website!). We guarantee you’ll laugh until you pee or your money back!
Well, that’s all for now kids. Have a happy holiday season and we’ll see you all at the Christmas show!
