We are very excited to announce that this year’s Hack and Slash Christmas Special, the Musical! will be held at Christmas time! I know, it’s a radical concept. It’s always been in October. We wanted to give it our full attention and not have it detract from the focus we want to give to our time at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. As a compromise, we will be having it in January. There, do you feel better now? It is currently scheduled for January 7th, 2006 at the Chesapeake Arts Center. This year’s show will have new songs and new ghosts! Special guests will include the comedy jugglers, The Zucchinni Brothers. You will remember Ripe Zucchini as Todd from Operation Swashbuckle. He and his partner "Green" have a fantastically funny show and we know you’ll love it!

This next item has been a big secret and we’ve just been chomping at the bit to let it out, so get ready! Also appearing as a ghost is this year’s show, Brian "Broon" Howard! That’s right, Broon is back! You will remember Brian from his days spent hanging upside down in a straight jacket and juggling bowling balls at the renaissance festival. Brian is Slash’s best friend and taught him everything he knows about how to get audiences to snarf liquids out their noses, so you know he’s funny! Perhaps we should call this year’s show Hack and Slash Christmas Special, the Broonical! Anyway, he promises to bring his A-game so get ready to laugh!

Tickets will go on sale at ticketleap.com and at the Chesapeake Arts Center very soon. Those of you who sat in the much coveted VIP section last year will agree the experience was well worth the effort to get the limited VIP seats before they sold out. To be notified immediately when ticket go on sale, join our mailing list!

We will be putting a special page of information on this year’s special very soon!

Operation Swashbuckle, the mission continues!

We are back from our 5th Armed Forces Entertainment tour and we had a tremendous experience, once again. This time, we traveled to Iraq, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kuwait and Qatar. We were on the tour for a month and were honored to have joining us for his third tour, our good friend Todd Key, the world’s greatest trickster. Accompanying us on his first OpSwash tour was motivational speaker and comedy juggler, Dan Thurmon. Learn more about Dan and see his pictures of the tour at www.DanThurmon.com Look for more information, tour pictures and stories when we revamp the website.

We are also pleased to announce that through your support of the Operation Swashbuckle DVD, we have been able to raise a good amount of cash to present to Armed Forces Entertainment and the U.S.O. We will be presenting a check to AFE very soon. Look for that update in October. Thanks to all who purchased the DVD in support of entertainment for our troops.

Hack and Slash get a new website!

After many years of good use, it’s time to completely redo the website. The website will now be maintained by our new webmaster and noted geek magician, Andy Blau. Andy also maintains the websites of the Tennessee Renaissance Festival and several other well-known renn faire performers (like The Commidiots and Tortuga Twins Members-Only Fan Club) so we know we are in good hands. The new site will feature:

Watch for new shows and crazy events!

After lots of brainstorming and planning, are ready to start work on a brand new show for the Renaissance Festival! It’s called the Action Hero show and it will include the usual swordplay and comical banter, as well as a new bit with a trained bear and the ultimate action-hero-escape. Things are busy this year with the website, the Christmas Special and other projects, but we expect to start playing with some of the new material this year at the festivals. We are also starting the planning for two new events. The first event has the working title of The Hack and Slash Shakespeare Massacre and it will be in theatre venues. The show will include the best of Hack and Slash plus more new material. We are also planning a possible pub event called The Hack and Slash Brew-Ha-Ha. Signup for our mailing list online or at the fair to stay up to date on all the new shows and events as they are announced!

See you at the faire!
